I love JOGA because it makes me feel connected to my body and allows me to feel the tension of breath work and movement to feel my best.
Being an athlete my whole life I was very interested in how the body works, from recovery to injuries and feeling your best when competing. I am currently working towards a kinesiology degree in hopes to go into physiotherapy in the future.
When I found out about JOGA I instantly was fascinated with the connection between each movement. I felt that there was always something missing in the recovery of sport and not many people knew how to get that, JOGA is exactly that.
I have played at high levels of hockey, softball and track and field. It is important to me that every athlete feels their best when they are competing.
I am happy to now be coaching this to others. It has helped me and I am excited to share that with the athletes!

WHY I CHOSE JOGA
MY JOGA STORY
Since a young age I have been intrigued by how the body works together and how that played out in physical activity and sports. I started my career in physiotherapy and occupational therapy and have added many courses to expand my tool box to help those I work with.
That’s when I had found about JOGA. What made me fall in love with this program was how every movement has a purpose and the connection between the breathe and the movement. I have added this program in with my clients for prevention, rehabilitation, recovery day work, as well as warm ups to their other programs.
I’ve seen what it has done not just for myself but for those I work with as well, finding that strength, understanding and control as well as that edge that has come from this program.

WHY I CHOSE JOGA
MY JOGA STORY
Working with athletes since 2009, I have always been an advocate for recovery and looking after your body. I grew up playing competitive Ringette where I suffered an ACL injury, resulting in months of physiotherapy. This my interest in sports rehabilitation from a young age.
I found JOGA a few years ago when my brother had a session with Jana at a goalie camp and since then it has always been on my mind. I love that JOGA works within the athlete’s range of motion to prevent injury and provide amazing benefits to help improve overall performance.
A few short years later I am now finishing up my Diploma of Osteopathic Manual Practice at the CCO and working as a Registered Massage Therapist. I have been working with Hockey teams since 2009 as a trainer and later a Registered Massage Therapist.
JOGA is now a program I incorporate in my treatment as a way to help prevent injury and aid in the recovery process during a busy season. I love being able to teach athletes how to better take care of their mind and body so that they don’t have to sit on the sidelines!

WHY I CHOSE JOGA
MY JOGA STORY
I have been a competitive athlete my entire life, and I remember as a child, dreaming of how I would create my perfect job, which would encompass my love of sport and my passion for helping others. Swimming, field hockey, equestrian were my sports that I pursued into college, and then after graduating continuing in my love of Dressage, and then becoming a professional cross country mountain bike racer and Cat 1 road cyclist. I was always interested in how the human body worked and using functional body movements to make me a better athlete. If my swim coach said I needed to get stronger, my dad had me carry two water buckets at the barn at a time. Cross-training was and is key to a stronger body and mind. I graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and started my own Personal training business a few years after that and I have always sought out the top people in the field to study under and pursue my education. I was hooked on JOGA during my first JOGA session, and getting certified has changed everything for me, my clients and my business. I am also a 200 RYT and have practiced yoga for many years. In spite of my knowledge, I was always having an issue, and I attribute it to several things, being competitive, being in a hot room and pushing my tight muscles too far because I loved the sweat, loved the exertions, and yet I tolerated the pains and injuries because I loved the mindfulness behind yoga. With JOGA, I was forced to slow down, to be present and concentrate on the movements, this program brings it all together; physically, creating mobility around stability, developing better proprioception, mentally, staying present and calm in demanding situations, recovering faster because of the awareness of the breath, the brain, the body. And fast forward to now as a recreational athlete, my awareness in both the saddle of horses and cycling, I am a far better and confident athlete than I ever have been.

Why I Chose JOGA
My JOGA Story
Growing up I played nearly every sport offered which ignited my love and passion for the way the human body moves and transforms. I studied Exercise Science in both undergrad and graduate school, but was never really given the tools for recovery and regeneration.
After an autoimmune setback in 2018 I was forced to redefine the way in which I moved my body. Unable to strength train, run or go on long hikes with my dog – I turned to yoga and Pilates. It was frustrating and short-lived but during my first JOGA session, I knew this practice was created for (people like) me! JOGA connected the biomechanics of sport to the regeneration benefits of yoga. It challenged me in more ways than I imagined, but allowed me to listen to my body so that I stayed safe. Overtime I felt stronger, more mobile and a much deeper connection to my ‘new body.’ I’ve since been able to get back to all my movement passions and take them all to the next level!
As an “Exercise Scientist” I am constantly educating clients and athletes WHY we do WHAT we do. JOGA not only does that for the specific movements, but also relating it back to sport you practice. Having a deeper understanding of how your brain and body connects is key when athletes are moving without thought on the courts, course or field.
JOGA brings together so many crucial components of movement and breathing techniques that I wish I had as a younger athlete. My mission is to spread this practice to as many athletes as I can! I want to help reduce their risk of injury and better understand their bodies so they can be stronger, more mobile and play for longer!

WHY I CHOSE JOGA
MY JOGA STORY
I discovered JOGA through a fellow curler in Toronto who was offering online JOGA classes. After one class, I could feel the difference in my body and in my performance on the ice. As a strength coach, JOGA adds a unique dimension to what I can offer both athletes and weekend warriors – body awareness, options for active recovery and sequences that continue to challenge.
I decided to become a coach because there weren’t any local JOGA coaches here in Colorado at the time, and I knew I needed more of this practice in my training. I incorporate JOGA into every strength and conditioning program I design, and recommend it for anyone who wants to move more efficiently.

WHY I CHOSE JOGA
MY JOGA STORY
I grew up playing a variety of sports competitively, and though I may not compete anymore I still live with the athlete mindset. I love to challenge myself to be better, whether thats the way I move, a personal best or my mind frame. JOGA challenges all of those things. I found JOGA by chance while looking for more of an athletic based yoga. I was instantly drawn to how it forces you to pay attention to how YOU move and not just what part of your body is moving. The language made sense to me as an athlete and it left my body feeling stronger and my mind calmer. I knew JOGA was for me.
As a mom who has two young boys just beginning their athletic journey I think programs like JOGA are so important as it gives them tools and teaches them how to take care of the bodies both physically and mentally.
When I’m not teaching JOGA or on adventures with my family I also work as a Vision Therapist, helping people improve their visual function.

WHY I CHOSE JOGA
MY JOGA STORY
As a sports chiropractor, I am always looking for ways to help athletes compete at their highest level. After my first JOGA session, I knew two things: this program was unlike anything I have ever done and I needed to learn this to introduce to my athletes. As former college tennis and lacrosse player I wish my teams would have been introduced to JOGA because we would have benefited significantly.
Athletes often develop muscular imbalances by favoring one side compared to the other. I learned this first hand during my athletic career suffering from chronic hip flexor issues. JOGA is a program designed to bring balance to the body by fixing those muscular imbalances and ultimately decreasing injuries. Injuries not only affect an athlete physically but also mentally. JOGA helps athletes with mindfulness and mental strength. Athletes are all unique and JOGA is a program that is tailored to the individuals’ physical capabilities but also where they are at in their sports season.
The major reason I was drawn to be a JOGA coach was because of the science behind the program. There is proven evidence behind each component of the program. Every movement in the system is there for a distinct reason and athletes are told throughout each session the “why’s” behind what they are doing. It is because of those reasons the top athletes in the world are doing this program. My goal as a JOGA coach is to help athletes of all levels reach their full potential in both sport and life.

WHY I CHOSE JOGA
MY JOGA STORY
As a young child I was always very athletic and loved sports but my main focus was Figure Skating. I became a competitive figure skater around the age or 10 and competed a Senior Nationals in 2005 & 2006. Our training varied so much from year to year but I always felt like there was something missing. I loved the gym but struggled to find the balance of mobility and stability. By the time I was 18 the injuries seemed to continue to pile on. I had chronic low back pain, hip pain and I tore my MCL and medial meniscus. After retiring from Skating I quickly switched sports and raced motocross for 5 years and now play ultimate frisbee. Even with rehab and rest the chronic pain in my Low Back and Hip seemed like it would never go away. I was diagnosed with a torn hip labrum and was advised to strengthen to help avoid surgery. Through all the strengthening my hip improved but the pain never fully went away.
Fast Forward to JOGA. I stumbled across JOGA online. I had heard of JOGA but didn’t know much about the program. As I began to do my research I instantly knew JOGA was for me. After the first 4 JOGA sessions I did I felt improvement in my body. Through JOGA I have completely eliminated the need to have hip surgery and I no longer have low back pain.
I have been a Certified Athletic Therapist since 2010. I have been working with Junior A hockey players since 2007 and I am currently the Head Athletic Therapist with the Pickering Panthers Jr A hockey Club. I also work with a variety of athletes including rugby players, football players, runners, dancers, cheerleaders, wrestlers and more. After seeing the changes I quickly made in my own body, I knew JOGA would help take all my athletes to the next level by increasing the mind body connection, learning how to move with breath and building mobility with stability to help decrease injury and calm the mind.

WHY I CHOSE JOGA
MY JOGA STORY
I’ve been an RMT since 1998 and I always felt I needed to give my massage clients more when it came to their “rehab” and a better understanding of the why and how they should be moving! I have always been active in sports whether I was playing sports, at the gym, or as a teams RMT, I always had a love of sport and movement!
I had found Joga in 2017 and it was a natural fit for myself and my massage practice! I love showing and teaching everyone that Joga is for anyone and it’s not about being flexible or being a professional athlete! It’s about putting in the work to be a stronger, smarter, healthier version of themselves and anyone can do that!
